Counseling for Fertility and Hope

About Me

I love helping people with infertility to thrive the way they are used to thriving.  My clients are capable, motivated, and driven to live the life that they want. Infertility throws a wrench into the works and suddenly there are all new rules.  I help my clients figure out the new rules and make a plan to make sense of this experience. And they find peace while trying to conceive. My interest in fertility counseling and third party reproduction started with my own journey through infertility. I am now the mother of two children, and I love to help people find themselves again and learn to thrive while making decisions about building their families. I've been working as a therapist for fifteen years. I stay abreast of current research in reproductive health through my membership with the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and Postpartum Support International.

Other Experiences

I have experience working as a Case Manager, Therapist, Crisis Counselor, and Group Facilitator at various community mental health clinics where I have had the opportunity to work with individuals who were living with chronic mental illnesses. My background also includes a Master of Arts degree in environmental education from the University of New Mexico and work as a wilderness instructor with North Carolina Outward Bound School. I have guided people through the natural world in New Mexico, California, Oregon, Washington, Kentucky, Missouri, and North Carolina. My experiences have allowed me to see what can be gained by becoming aware of our thoughts and emotions in the present moment. In doing so, we can learn to participate more fully in our own lives.

My Qualifications

I received a Master of Science degree in psychology with emphasis in mental health counseling at Western Washington University. I am a certified grief counselor through the American Institute of Health Care Professionals. I have received over 100 hours of in depth training in working with adults and children in grieving losses. I am professional member member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and Resolve, the National Infertility Association. I am also a preferred fertility counseling provider at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group in Asheville, NC. With training in infertility, grief, miscarriage, and postpartum mood disorders, I consider myself an all around reproductive mental health ninja.
